I'm hanging up my hat on this...

I've decided it's not for me. Like the HPAD challenges, like games and rules, like deadlines and schedules, I don't like it. I probably will do a lot of things on the list, and hopefully before I'm forty, but I'm not going to force it. I'm going to do them because I feel like it, not because I feel I should. For the rest of you, good luck - I admire your stickability.

Just about getting off the ground!

Start date was 24th January but not much happening here so far. I have however booked tickets to see a concert by a guy who used to play the local pub circuit before emigrating to Canada. He's back in the UK for a tour and I'm taking Mr Golightly; it'll be the first time he's seen this particular performer and it'll be the first time either of us have been to the Red Lion Folk Club. So, that's a step towards the first of the three in number 22.

Oh, and I'm blogging... number 40!

What's this all about then?

Some of those internet weirdie mates of mine were going to do this 101 things in 1001 days challenge, but there's no way I'd do that so decided to make a mini version of it for myself. Seeing as I'll hit the big four-oh in a little over 2 years I've settled for 40 before forty, and my tasks are as follows:

1: Get into a size 14 (it'll be the first time in my adult life!)
2. Get an Oriental cat (a red one) or at least be on a breeder's waiting list
3. Do a photography course
4. To start a photography club at work, so I can share my enthusiasm and learn from someone who knows more than me
5. Have photos taken in a booth (love that one Ali!) either with Clive (if he will) or with my nieces
6. To read at least ten books I own before I buy any more books
7. Use the National Trust membership at least once a month (or 12 times a year) or cancel it
8. Visit my home City of Birmingham as a tourist, rather than as a shopper
9. Have a charm on every other link of my charm bracelet
10. Go to at least 5 places of literary interest and photograph them
11. Take at least 10 more photos for my 'Public Art in Public Transport' group
12. Make a habit of charging my camera batteries and my phone rather than waiting till they're dead
13. Visit a butterfly farm
14. Visit Tintagel
15. Visit Stonehenge
16. Eat 5 fruits I've never tasted before
17. Do at least 10 more of the walks in our 'Book of Local Walks'
18. Walk the Lickey Hills Sculpture Trail and photograph it
19. Take photographs on Brean Down, so I can revisit childhood memories
20. Organise a reunion with my cousins
21. Go on a 'Ghost Walk'
22. Take 3 people to do things they have never done before
23. Go down an escalator
24. Remember to take my own bags to the supermarket for at least half the visits I make
25. Have my wedding ring and engagement ring polished
26. Get my small charm bracelet mended in time for Maria's 7th birthday (I was given it for my 7th, and I want to pass it on to her for hers)
27. Visit all of the Shakespeare properties in one day
28. Do 'Bus tours' round at least 3 UK cities.
29. Go to Scotland
30. Write proper handwritten letters, in ink, at least 4 times
31. Have my eyebrows threaded, to see if I like it
32. Have an Indian head massage
33.Book at least one last minute holiday or mini break each year
34. See my friend's band play
35. Investigate getting involved with the local youth club in some capacity
36. Take at least 1 SP each month. One of these each year must be a full length shot
37.Go for dinner at our wedding (reception) venue
38.Go on at least 4 work socials (I usually can't be bothered and regret it afterwards)
39. Attend all major school productions
40. Record my "40 things" progress in a blog

So, here we go... the most challenging one is going to be the escalator - I'm crapping myself already!
